announcements
We’re so excited to invite you and your family to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. Hosted by our PTO, this event is an opportunity for students to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.
Here is what you need to know about the Fall Book Fair, which will take place from Tuesday, November 12th - Friday, November 15th during your child’s library special day and time:
-
Our book fair offers eWallet, a safe and secure alternative to cash. Simply create a free account to add funds so your child can select their own books. Any unused funds can be spent at the Scholastic Store Online or can be used at a future book fair.
-
The PTO has created our very own eWallet Book Fairy account. This account helps us to support any students in need and makes sure every child goes home with a book. Please consider making a small donation to help support this effort. (When you visit the link to donate, the default grade listed is Kindergarten, but it is used for every grade.)
-
If your child can’t make it to the fair, they can shop online. All orders ship directly to your home and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders also benefit our school.
-
Visit our online book store link to learn more, create your wish list and get started with your eWallet.
-
If you are interested in volunteering at the book fair, please sign-up here. This is a great opportunity to help students select books and work the check out counter. *Please note that any volunteers must have their clearances on file with the school district prior to this event.
-
Bring the whole family and come shop after school in the WES library on Wednesday, November 13th from 4:30 - 6:00pm.
The upcoming fall conference schedule has our teachers in evening conferences, which means a particularly long day. We would like to make that day easier for them by providing dinner. Please sign up here, if you would like to contribute. We will be serving soups, salads and dessert.
Girls on the Run is coming to WES this spring! If you’re looking to support a program that fosters physical activity within a positive, educational and inclusive environment for our 3rd-5th grade girls, join our coaching team! No running experience is necessary - just a desire to provide an empowering and inspiring experience for our girls at WES! The season will begin the last week in February, and run until the first week in May. Coaches would need to be available for practices twice a week (3:30-5pm) for 8 weeks and have clearances on file with WSSD. Volunteers can sign-up here www.gotrpa.org/coach or reach out to Christine Greco for more information!
Many of us spend the fall and winter months wondering where our kid's articles of clothing have gone! In a coordinated effort with our school to reduce the amount of sweatshirts, jackets, pullovers, hats and lunchboxes around the WES playground, we are encouraging families to please label your child's things. It will be easier to return lost items to students, if we have an idea of who they belong to. Please also remind your children to be responsible by bringing their items home. We try to collect most items and have them out to claim for fall conferences, but most of the items left outside for an extended period of time in poor weather conditions end up in the trash and that is something we would love to improve. Thank you for your support!
The 10-week Fall Session started the week of October 28th. Please contact the WES PTO Foreign Language Club here.
