announcements

The WES Spirit Wear store is open! Show your Rusty pride and sport some WES graphic tees, cozy hoodies and hats. The store is open from September 23rd - October 6th and all proceeds go to the WES PTO!
P.S. The Kindergarten tee and WES Cares shirts are also available for those who still need them!
Any questions, contact Kristina Dechter or Suzanna Seltzer

Due to another rainy forecast we are rescheduling the bike bus for Monday, September 30th.  Check out the detailed route information here. To connect with your neighborhood group, contact Amanda Hemmer if you live near Beatty Road, Wisteria or Winding Lane, Meg Stine for Grandview or Plush Mill Road, Erin Stancill for Rose Valley/Moylan, Vanessa Thomas for the Country Club area and Martroy/Sykes and Laura Bruce or Elizabeth Roessner for South Media/Wallingford Ave.  If you would like to participate in biking or walking to school without completing the full route, please meet at the Helen Kate Furness Library parking lot between 8 and 8:15am.  At 8:15 everyone will walk or bike together to WES.  This year we will have very special guests - WES teachers and staff walking with us for the final leg to WES!

WES Outdoor Movie Night.jpg

Please join us for the annual WES outdoor movie night! We will be watching the movie The Lego Movie together at the school on a big screen on Thursday, October 10th. We plan to open for families at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at 7:00 p.m. Please remember to bring a blanket or chairs to sit on, and don't forget your favorite snacks! This is a free event for the entire family. An RSVP isn't necessary, but it helps us get a crowd estimate, so please sign up here. Questions? Please contact movie night co-chairs Mike Sheehan or Nichole Dobo

Apple Crunch Day

watercolor apples.jpg

On Friday, October 11th, WES will celebrate Apple Crunch Day to commemorate the beginning of fall with healthy eating traditions! Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to participate in an apple tasting with a variety of apples from a local orchard.
Following the tasting, each class will vote on their favorite type of apple to find WES’ favorite apple
of 2024! It’s a fun and exciting day for all, but we can’t do it without help from our WES families!
We need apple slicers to pre-slice apples as well as classroom volunteers to deliver apples and join in the fun. Please consider signing up with the link below to help the day’s success! *All volunteers need valid clearances on file with the district. Please do not sign up unless you already have submitted your clearances. Thank you!

The Caring Committee supports WES families through hardship. This can include challenges like physical and mental health difficulties, bereavement, or other hardships that WES students and/or their families are experiencing. We know that sometimes achieving well being can have its challenges and we organize to support families in our community. This can look like support with meals, monetary support and donations, and helping to connect families with resources. If you or someone you know could benefit from our support OR if you're interested in volunteering, please contact Chloe Alvarado-McCann. Please know that we value and are committed to each family's confidentiality and privacy."

The 2024-25 Student Directory is now available to pre-order here. This helpful resource is your connection to the WES community, with all of the important information in one place - including the school calendar of events, class lists and contact information for teachers and families. Print copies will be published in September and delivered to your WES student's backpack. Digital access invitations will be sent in early fall to the email(s) provided at purchase. Thank you for supporting this fundraiser for the WES PTO!
